BUILDING INTENTIONAL, EFFECTIVE BRANDS

My name is Kammie Kasten - ad agency survivor, recovering marketing executive, and second life entrepreneur. After decades working on brand and communications, I noticed a frustrating trend — all data, no soul. Leaders are foregoing foundational business strategy; focused exclusively on data-informed tactical decisions; and building increasingly homogeneous, interchangeable brands. Or worse, no identity at all.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a lover of metrics and analytics. Data provides valuable insights; but data can’t inform your ethos. Without the who and why of the business, leaders are struggling to motivate conversion, recruit the right players, and align their teams. Dynamic change begins when we use the available resources to understand more than the market and margins; but the identity, values, value, audience and their motivations to engage, inspire, and build loyalty across all audiences.

At Kammer, I partner with businesses to build and rethink effective, sustainable brands and take them to market. Let me work on your business, while you work in it.

SERVICES

  • A great product sells itself? No, but a the right message will. In the Brand Audit I dig into your brand identity, market, competition, and audience. Delivering an analysis that details the existing landscape, audience psychographics, and brand positioning to establish a firm foundation for your go-to-market strategy.

  • You know where to go but you aren’t sure how to get there… A Strategic Roadmap provides the tools to connect the dots. From value propositions and messaging to channels and tactics—to ensure your marketing efforts are intentional, measurable, and effective.

While no business or product should launch without one, don’t think that the shoe doesn’t fit just because you’ve been around the block. If your growth has stagnated or your team has lost the plot, a roadmap can get your business and staff back on the right route.

  • Senior leadership is essential and expensive, leading many small business owners and start-ups founders to take several seats in the boardroom. As a Fractional Brand Consultant and Marketing Executive, I am a partner in your business. This relationship can take many forms, but together we can work out what makes sense for your business.

Strengths

CliftonStrengths is a Gallup tool, honed over thousands of interviews and. based in psychological research, that identifies and customizes individual results across 34 themes. These are mine.

  • I love to solve problems. Whereas some are dismayed when they encounter yet another breakdown, it energizes me. I enjoy the challenge of analyzing symptoms, identifying what is wrong, and finding the solution–practical, conceptual, or personal. I enjoy bringing things back to life–identify the undermining factor(s), eradicating them, and finding its true glory.

  • I am intrigued by unique qualities and impatient with generalizations or “types” because they obscure what is special and distinct. Instead, I focus on the differences–instinctively observing style, motivation, how people think, and how they build relationships. I am a keen observer of other people’s strengths, enabling me to draw out their best, meaning this theme also helps me build productive teams. While some  search around for the perfect team “structure” or “process,” I instinctively know that the secret to great  teams is casting by individual strengths so that everyone can do a lot of what they do well.

  • The Belief theme can vary by person buy for many, including me, it causes me to be family-oriented, altruistic, spiritual, and to value responsibility and high ethics—both in myself and others. These core values give my life meaning and satisfaction; success is  more than money and prestige. They provide me with direction, guiding me through the temptations and  distractions of life toward a consistent set of priorities.

  • A conductor. When faced with a complex situation involving many factors, I enjoy managing all of the variables, aligning and realigning them until I am sure I have arranged them in the most productive configuration possible. From the mundane to the complex, I am always looking for the perfect configuration through effective flexibility;; at my best in dynamic situations, jumping into the confusion, devising new options, hunting for new paths of least resistance and figuring out new partnerships–because after all, there might always be a better way.

  • Ideas are a dry beginning. Events are static–I feel a need to bring them to life, to energize  them, to make them exciting and vivid. Taking the dry idea and enlivening it with images and examples and metaphors. People are bombarded by information, but very little of it survives. I want information—whether an idea, an event, a product’s features and benefits, a discovery, or a  lesson—to survive. Capturing attention and locking it in.
